Irrigation Services

IRRIGATION services

Serving the kansas city metro area,

including johnson county

Professional irrigation systems are used to create a healthy landscape and help keep your landscape vibrant all year round.

Professional irrigation systems also help save on your water bill. Most residential and commercial property owners use excessive amounts of water to keep their grass and landscape green and fresh. Installing an irrigation system is more efficient than any other form of watering.

To schedule your irrigation appointment, please call us at 816-566-5300. We will gladly provide a free estimate and let you know our recommendations.

 Installation

If you are looking for an irrigation system, Branched Out can install a range of systems best fit for your location.

Careful Planning + Mapping it Out

We will measure the size of your yard and determine how much ground each sprinkler will cover, as well as its water pressure and the water flow of the supply source.

Then, we carefully create a site plan of your yard to show where your custom lines will lay.

Dig + Lay

We then use careful techniques to dig the lines for your system. The specifications here can vary, with some cities allowing a shallow 6-inch trench and others requiring 12-18 inches of depth.

As we dig, we try and make the sides slope at a slight angle; this will make it easier to reach in and handle the risers and sprinkler heads. To make the filling stage easier, separate the soil from the sod so returning them to their place goes faster. Then, we lay down the pipeline down piece by piece. This will connect all heads to create the watering zones.

 Connect Sprinkler Heads

We will level the heads with the height of the soil and pick out the right one based on the water pressure, spray trajectory, and other details unique to your lawn and the climate.

 Flush the System with Water

We conduct a “dry” run by flushing the system through with water one time. This step will get rid of dust and debris that might be lining the pipes, which will allow the first “real” sprinkling set to flow more smoothly.

Connect the Controller

It’s important to connect the sprinklers to an automatic timer, not only for your convenience but so that you can control the frequency and duration of each spray. We will go over all the instructions you need to connect the controller to your newly installed sprinkler system.

Fertigation

Fertigation is the practice of adding fertilizer in your irrigation system. Fertigation, rather than traditional fertilization, allows for a direct source to your plant roots more effectively. This allows for less waste, it also reduces soil erosion and water consumption, reduces the amount of fertilizer utilized, and controls the time and rate it is released.

Maintenance

Test and Repair

Test your irrigation system periodically to make sure it's operating correctly.

Make sure that all the sprinkler heads are working, and unclog or replace heads that are malfunctioning, broken, or missing.

Adjust Heads

Heads can be moved by collisions with feet and lawnmowers, so check them frequently for alignment. Adjust heads so they're watering only your landscape. Sprinkler heads aimed at other surfaces waste money and water.

Set Controller

Set your controller to water only as much as plants need. Change your controller settings with the seasons so you're watering with the correct frequency.

Calibrate

You may also want to calibrate your sprinkler system to determine how much water your system is applying in a given amount of time. Many times, we're over- or under-watering our lawns without knowing it.

Winterization

Shut off the water supply to the irrigation system. Make sure it is wrapped with insulation to protect it from harsh winter temperatures and prevent it from freezing.

Retrofitting

Making your old system new again.
